Easter Appeal 2017

Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.  Faith allows us to believe in something unseen but true.

With faith, we are able to hold onto an enduring sense of joy even in the midst of sadness we experience from the loss of a loved one, a failure to achieve an important goal or a setback during recovery from an illness.  Our faith allows us to trust that God can overcome our most serious problems.  It means seeing the world and our own experiences through new eyes – God’s eyes.

At Mercy we understand the power and importance of faith.  As a hospital dedicated to furthering the healing ministry of Jesus Christ, we know our patients rely on their faith to guide them through their healing process.  And, when faith is tested with uncertainties of an illness, Mercy’s caregivers offer compassion, comfort, and counsel.  We also offer a place where families can gather for prayer, meditation and reflection.  The chapels located at Mercy Downtown and Mercy Southwest provide the space to renew one’s faith, restore one’s hope and bring a sense of calm to those who need it most, when they need it most.

Easter celebrates Christ’s resurrection from the dead and the promise of our everlasting life. It carries a message of great hope to those who believe and reminds us to live with a sense of newness.

We invite you to celebrate the Easter season by helping us give our patients and their families a place where faith can be practiced according to personal beliefs. Your donation to this year’s Friends of Mercy Easter Appeal will allow us to continue the healing ministry started so many years ago when the Sisters of Mercy first arrived in Bakersfield and established Mercy Hospital in 1910.

Click on the Donate Now button and select Easter Appeal to make your gift. Include the names of your loved ones in the comments section and we will forward your prayers to our local Sisters of Mercy who will pray for them and your intentions during this Easter season.
