Highlights of Funds Transferred

  • Capital Expenditures: nearly 1.6 million - includes a state-of-the-art breast tomosynthesis used in the early detection of breast cancers that may be hidden during a digital mammography; an endoscopic ultrasound used in the detection, diagnosis and treatments of cancers of the stomach and pancreas; a digital mobile c-arm primarily used in orthopedic cases including the revolutionary Total Anterior approach Hip Arthroplasty; specialized equipment used to monitor the carbon dioxide levels of our tiniest patients on ventilators in the NICU at Mercy Southwest; and phototherapy blanket systems allowing mother’s to continue to feed and cradle their baby receiving treatment for jaundice.
  • Operating and Other Grants: nearly $90,000 - includes support directly to specific departments, grants distributed to local nonprofits through the Sister Phyllis Hughes Endowment for Special Needs Grants Program, and grants made to junior auxilians from the Mercy Auxiliary.
  • Outreach to the poor (efforts led by the Department of Special Needs and Community Outreach) nearly $790,000 – includes support of their Community Wellness Programs, After School Homework Club, and providing basic needs for the poor (food, clothing, hygiene kits, etc).
