THE FRIENDS OF MERCY FOUNDATION

Mercy Foundation Bakersfield, dba Friends of Mercy Foundation, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose purpose is to raise funds for Mercy Hospitals of Bakersfield.  Together with our Board of Directors, physicians and other community leaders, the Foundation works to encourage public interest and support of Mercy Hospitals and our many worthy programs, services and outreach activities in a manner consistent with our values and goals.

The Friends of Mercy Foundation was formally established in 1988 and since that time has raised over 20 million dollars in philanthropic support for Mercy Hospitals.  Through the years, the Foundation has connected Kern County residents passionate about healthcare with our mission and services – and the results have been gratifying. Even more importantly, the Foundation's success has positively impacted our entire community as the level and access to healthcare continues to increase.

Mercy Hospital was founded by the Sisters of Mercy almost 100 years ago and they have been providing compassionate care to Bakersfield and our surrounding communities ever since.  The Friends of Mercy Foundation is proud to further their efforts through our ongoing support of Mercy and Mercy Southwest Hospitals.

OUR CORE VALUES
Our healthcare and community outreach mission is guided by five core values: dignity, collaboration, excellence, stewardship and justice.  We believe these core values and our mission of caring for those in need are what set us apart as healthcare leaders in Kern County.
